About Our School
Located in the heart of San Francisco, Stella Maris Academy's history stretches back over one hundred years, to when the bay's coastline was still littered with sand dunes and homesteads. We've built on that history, reincorporating the faith and dedication of the original founders into our curriculum for the modern children of the Bay Area.
We teach according to the classical liberal arts model, which is tailored to the natural development of a child's mind. By blending modern knowledge of the sciences, a focus on beauty, and teachings of the Catholic faith, Stella Maris Academy cultivates the whole child's character, so that they may grow into conscientious, faith-filled citizens. Not only are we the only classical primary school in the Bay Area, we are also the only primary school to teach art history, and the home of the highly accomplished Saint Mary's Cathedral Choir.
Stella Maris Academy employs a Catholic staff and is surrounded by the community of Star of the Sea Parish. We are a close knit community, open to growth and bringing in new members as we work together to raise the future.
