Saint Michael Catholic School is seeking an experienced Middle School English and Literature teacher to form and educate young souls, in collaboration with parents, in the classical and Catholic intellectual tradition for the 26-27 school year. The ideal candidate will be able to teach grammar, writing, spelling, literature and possibly additional classes (history, science) while also serving as a grade level  homeroom teacher. Applicants should have experience with Socratic discussion, Charlotte Mason narration techniques, and be dedicated to forming strong readers and writers who will carry forward a lifelong love of great literature. Middle School literature texts include works from Shakespeare, Beowulf, The Hobbit, Black Ships Before Troy, King Arthur, and more. The candidate should understand their mission as partnering with families in student formation and should enjoy time spent in discussion with colleagues about art, music, and the Great Books. All Saint Michael teachers are expected to model the teachings of the Catholic Church in their own lives and to be zealous in passing them on to our students.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in the classroom and will have a solid foundation and understanding of the Catholic faith and the classical liberal arts tradition. The right candidate with less experience may also be considered.
