St. Jerome Parish School is a community of faith where every student is known, every family is valued, and teachers partner with parents to help children succeed. We are looking for an educator who will share their love of learning with our elementary school students. Vision for the education and formation of our students is rooted in The Holy See’s Teaching on Catholic Schools, as overseen by Archbishop J. Michael Miller, CSB, Secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education, as well as the traditional methods of instruction in Catholic Liberal Education.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides instruction to elementary school students in the areas of religion, literature, grammar, handwriting, spelling, writing, math, history, and science.
  • Uses identified needs to guide the learning process toward student achievement of content standards.
  • Uses formal and informal assessment data obtained from students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Prepares lesson plans.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner based in Catholic virtue.
  • Collaborates, as needed, with appropriate personnel regarding students who may need specialized interventions.
  • Participates in staff development

Qualifications:

  • Practicing Catholic
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Appropriate certification or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Familiarity with the traditional methods of Catholic Liberal Education or a willingness to learn.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn Singapore Math
  • Dedication to a structured literacy approach of teaching reading and language.
  • A commitment to helping students discover their full potential academically, spiritually, physically, and socially
