Website St. Jerome Institute Falls Church, Virginia
The St. Jerome Institute NOVA is seeking a teacher of Latin for the 2026-2027 school year. SJI NOVA seeks in its founding year to bring into being in a new location what we have already proven possible: that joy and order can thrive together in harmony, that faith and reason are meant to work together, and that humility and the pursuit of excellence are the calling of all young people.
The Latin teacher will help guide students on an adventure into the West’s foundational language. For centuries, the most beautiful and profound works of the most creative and educated minds, from late antiquity through the Renaissance, were written in Latin. Even if many of these works were not still untranslated and inaccessible to contemporary readers, the promise of being able to read an author in his own language and in his very words opens students to an entire world that has been “lost in translation” for the last hundred years. For this reason, the goal of the Latin program at St. Jerome Institute is not merely to be able to translate works with the aid of a dictionary, but to be able to truly enjoy those of appropriate reading level, and so begin to reclaim our literary and academic heritage. The successful candidate will believe in this mission and have the mastery of Latin to make it achievable. If you believe you have the right unity of mission and competency, apply today!
