Middle School Latin Teacher (Part-Time)

St. Charles Catholic Classical School in Spokane, WA, is seeking a joyful, faith-filled, and intellectually inspiring educator to teach Middle School Latin.

Position: Middle School Latin Teacher Grades 6-8 (part-time)

Position Overview
The Latin Teacher leads students through the study of the language of the Roman Catholic Church, Ecclesiastical Latin, thereby equipping them with lifelong tools for intellectual and spiritual exploration and growth. A study of Latin fosters clarity of thought, attention to language, and a deepened understanding of the historical and theological foundations of Catholicism and, more broadly, Christian Civilization.

Duties & Essential Responsibilities

• Design and implement lessons in Latin aligned with the school’s Catholic classical curriculum.
• Foster grammar and linguistic competence while cultivating wonder for the beauty and precision of language.
• Integrate Latin into the study of history, literature, art, and music, where possible.
• Coordinate with teachers in 3rd-5th Grades to ensure continuity in Latin instruction from the lower school to upper school.
• Create a classroom environment characterized by order, joy, and intellectual seriousness.
• Communicate effectively with parents and school leadership.
• Collaborate with faculty to support the school’s mission and Catholic identity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in classics, history theology, literature, education, or related field
• Commitment to living and teaching in fidelity to the Catholic faith
• Demonstrated ability to teach Ecclesiastical Latin to middle school students
• Washington State Teaching Certificate preferred (or ability to obtain)
• Experience teaching middle school preferred
• Demonstrated love for the language of the Roman Catholic Church, intellectual inquiry, and the formation of young minds and hearts

Beginning August 24, 2026

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $16,781-$36,548 (Salary dependent on applicant’s skills and relevant experience, degrees and certifications.)

Part-Time Benefits: Sick Leave, One Personal Day, Employee Paid Retirement Plan 403(b), & Employer Paid Retirement Plan 401(a) of 6% after one year of employment and 1,000 hours, and 21 years of age.

*If you have additional qualifications in other subject areas, this could increase FTE with the possibility of a full-time position.
