St. Carlo Acutis Early Childhood Educator Job Description
St. Carlo Acutis Academy is a virtual Catholic school serving the students throughout Oklahoma in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City and the Diocese of Tulsa. This innovative online school will bring the richness of the Catholic intellectual tradition into homes of students across our great state, providing students the opportunity for a rich Catholic education regardless of their geographic location. St. Carlo Acutis Academy was canonically established by Archbishop Paul Coakley and Bishop David Konderla in 2025, as a newly founded Catholic school opening in fall 2026. It will begin with grades Kindergarten through Grade 8 in 2026, expanding to grade 9 in 2027 with an additional high school year until fully K-12 by 2030. Rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition and a classical liberal arts curriculum, the academy’s mission centers on forming the whole person with Jesus Christ as the logos. It emphasizes the careful cultivation of intellectual and moral virtues, high academic standards, the diligent practice of the arts, and a deep and abiding appreciation of the timeless treasures of Christendom, preparing students to go out into the world prepared for a bright and productive future.
Position Overview
St. Carlo Acutis Academy is seeking a devoted, enthusiastic Catholic educator to join our faculty and serve as the lead teacher in our inaugural lower Elementary classroom. In the grammar stage of classical education, the teacher will delight in young children’s natural wonder, foster ordered habits of learning and virtue, and integrate the Catholic faith across all subjects to form scholars and saints from the earliest years.
Key Responsibilities
– Deliver engaging, integrated lessons in core areas using a classical Catholic approach in a virtual setting.
– Cultivate an online classroom of order, kindness, attention, and joy grounded in Gospel values and virtue formation.
– Assess progress through classical methods (narration, recitation, dictation) alongside developmental tools.
– Partner closely with parents as primary educators and the domestic church, communicating regularly and charitably.
-Be able to work virtually and to train as needed for online teaching and platforms to effectively reach students
– Participate in faculty formation, school liturgical life, community events, and ongoing professional growth in classical Catholic pedagogy.
Qualifications
– Practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church, with a deep love for the sacraments and the Magisterium, and willingness to take an “Oath of Fidelity”.
– Bachelor’s degree in early childhood or elementary education, liberal arts, theology, or related field; classical training preferred.
– Experience teaching early elementary grades (classical or Catholic school experience highly desired; enthusiasm for classical methods essential even if new to the approach).
-Experience with online/virtual teaching a plus. Must be willing to train in best online teaching practices and techniques.
-The ability to work in a virtual setting while being engaging and warm to the students.
– Strong understanding of classical education principles, especially the grammar stage, integrated curriculum, and virtue education.
– Warmth, patience, creativity, and effective online classroom management for young children.
– Commitment to personal growth in the Catholic liberal arts tradition through reading, workshops, and mentorship.
– Eligibility to work in the United States.
-Bilingual a plus.
Preferred Attributes
– Familiarity with classical Catholic curricula (e.g., Memoria Press, Classical Academic Press, Faith and Life, Singapore Math, or similar).
– Passion for incorporating beauty, music, art, nature, and manual skills into daily learning.
