Extended Care Director
Position Type: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Compensation: $28–$30 per hour, commensurate with experience
Reports To: Administration

The Extended Care Director supports the mission of the Catholic school and the Archdiocese of San
Francisco by providing a safe, nurturing, and faith-centered environment for students outside of the
regular instructional day and during summer programming. The program reflects Gospel values,
promotes respect and responsibility, and partners with families in the formation of the whole child.
Position Summary
The Extended Care Director oversees the daily operations of the after-school and summer extended
care programs and serves as the after-school extracurricular coordinator. This role ensures student
safety, program quality, staff supervision, and compliance with Archdiocesan policies, Safe
Environment requirements, and applicable state regulations.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and supervise daily after-school and summer extended care programs and coordinate afterschool
extracurricular offerings.
• Design age-appropriate activities that include homework support, enrichment, recreation, and
faith-based values.
• Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate extended care staff; ensure proper staff-to-student
ratios.
• Maintain a safe, orderly environment and consistent student supervision at all times.
• Ensure accurate attendance, check-in/check-out procedures, monthly billing, and incident
reporting.
• Communicate professionally with parents/guardians regarding extended care and after-school
extracurricular activities and collaborate with school staff and administration.
• Coordinate after-school extracurricular programs, including communication with outside
vendors, student enrollment/sign-ups, scheduling, and parent communication regarding
activities.
• Manage program supplies, facilities use, and basic budgeting in coordination with school
leadership.
Compliance & Safe Environment
• Ensure full compliance with Archdiocesan policies, the school handbook, and California state
regulations.
• Enforce and model Archdiocesan Safe Environment policies, including mandatory reporting
requirements.
• Complete and maintain required background checks, fingerprinting, and Safe Environment
training for self and staff.
• Uphold the teachings, values, and moral standards of the Catholic Church in word and conduct.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in education, child
development, or related field preferred).
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience working with children in a school-age or youth program;
supervisory experience required.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience in a Catholic school or faith-based setting preferred.

Physical Requirements
Ability to supervise students indoors and outdoors; stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
