Title: Early Educator (Two Year Olds)
Position: Full-Time
Supervisor: Preschool Director
Purpose and Scope
St. Matthias Preschool is a private Catholic school where children thrive academically, socially and spiritually in our emergent play-based learning environments. The Early Educator (Preschool Teacher) for two year olds will assume responsibility for general supervision, development and education of children and support the Archdiocese of San Francisco in carrying out the ministry of Jesus Christ through age appropriate faith formation.
This position reports directly to the Preschool Director and performs the teaching duties for the preschool with limited supervision.
Early Educator (Two Year Olds)
Responsibilities & Duties
●Provide a quality early education for young children which provides a strong basefoundation for lifelong learning.●Provide individualized attention to address each child’s unique needs●Design interest areas that provide children with choices, opportunities for safe risks.●Challenge children to interact, learn, create and thrive while corresponding with thedevelopmental and individual needs of each child, thus fostering the desire to learn.●Facilitate age-appropriate learning experiences that promote cognitive, language, motor,sensory and spiritual development●Provide direct support, engagement, and extension of a child’s play and learningexperiences by offering assistance and providing resources.●Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment●Encourage positive behavior and social interactions among children●Facilitate children’s development of social skills through structured play and interaction●Support instructors during extracurricular Music and STEM sessions for toddlers.●Monitor the safety and well-being of children at all times●Observe and document children’s developmental milestones●Conduct Child Assessments twice a year●Communicate with parents about their child’s progress●Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to create a cohesive educational program
● Attend Preschool Staff Meetings, Staff Inservices and parish-wide events to further own professional growth, which includes keeping abreast the latest research on best early education practices. ● Provide support and Early Childhood expertise to the program. ● Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic at all times. Early Educator (Two Year Olds) Qualifi cations & Skills
● A fully qualified Preschool Teacher working with two year olds shall have at least 12-24 units in ECE/CD of accredited core courses; Associate’s Degree preferred. ● Previous experience working with toddlers ● Familiarity with child development practices ● Strong communication and interpersonal skills ● Ability to create a safe and inclusive learning environment ● Experience with classroom management techniques ● Creative problem-solving abilities ● Passion for early childhood education ● Minimum of 2 years of experience in a toddler/preschool setting ● Strong knowledge of early childhood development ● Excellent communication skills ● Ability to engage young children in learning activities ● Patience and empathy ● Physical stamina to keep up with active toddlers ● Commitment to ongoing professional development Licensing Requirements and Obligations
● Educational courses must cover child growth and development; child, family and community, and program curriculum. Two years of work experience in a licensed toddler/preschool program preferred.
● A teacher shall have completed and maintained Pediatric CPR training as required by California Child Care Licensing, which includes 8 hours Preventative Health and Safety Training. ● A toddler teacher shall maintain on fi le offi cial copy of college transcripts and complete and satisfy all Community Care Licensing forms and requirements including: Criminal background check, fi ngerprint clearance, child abuse index check, physical exam/health questionnaire, TB and MMR clearances and current Flu vaccination

Salary:
$28.00-$30.00 per hour Archdiocesan Requirement Complete the VIRTUS online training and criminal background check requirements. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, walk, stand, and climb stairs, alternating as needed and sometimes for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to bend, pull, above shoulder level. Must be able to lift 45-50 lbs.
