About The School:

This school is an independent, Catholic, classical liberal arts high school founded in 2022 in

Denver, Colorado. Under the patronage of St. John Paul II, they form disciples of Jesus Christ

through a classical curriculum, a robust discipleship formation program, athletics, outdoor

expeditions, and the Household System — a structured discipleship model at the heart of school

life. The school is now entering its fifth year of operation and growing toward full enrollment of

400 students.

Operative vision:

This school is a Catholic school that classically educates students through the formation of a Christ-

centered worldview.

Candidate Profile

The Assistant Principal must be a Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church, who

assents to the Church’s teachings on all matters — with particular care for those concerning the

nature of the human person, sexual ethics, and sexual identity. The candidate shall be a

missionary disciple who possesses a zeal for the Lord, living the faith in all aspects of life, and

able to speak comfortably and compellingly about the school’s mission to students, families,

faculty, and stakeholders.

The Assistant Principal is an organized, process-driven systems-builder who wants to construct

what a young school does not yet have — and sustain it year after year. He or she brings real

classroom credibility: enough teaching experience to comment on a lesson plan at the level of

content, not just structure, and to hold coaching conversations teachers welcome. The right

candidate is a partner in classical Catholic education, not an admirer of it — someone already at

home in the tradition who deepens the Principal’s work. The role demands a full-day, visible,

on-site presence among teachers, with the steadiness to treat accountability and support as two

ways of saying the same thing. This school hires its senior leaders with a succession mindset;

the right candidate has the administrative strength and maturity to grow into broader school

leadership over time.

Primary Responsibilities:

Academic Systems & Teacher Accountability — 35%

The Assistant Principal owns the administrative systems of the principal’s office so the Principal

is freed to serve as the school’s principal teacher — deeply engaged in curriculum, lesson

planning, and coaching.

Faculty professional responsibilities.

Track and enforce teacher professional responsibilities — posted lesson plans, current gradebooks,

Google Classroom upkeep — and hold direct accountability conversations when habits slip.

Systems building. Design, document, and drive the systems a growing school still lacks:

student progress tracking, academic supports, and the structures that make expectations

stick year after year.

Extension of the Principal.

Be a second set of eyes across classrooms — identify patterns where teachers need support, bring them

to the Principal, and strategize the right support together.

Professional development logistics.

Schedule and carry out the professional development calendar in support of the Principal’s coaching

priorities.

Learning Support & Accommodations — 25%

This school is committed to providing accommodations without becoming a special-education

school; the Assistant Principal makes that commitment operational in partnership with Mountain Top,

the school’s learning-support partner.

Mountain Top fluency.

Serve as the school’s academic administrator in Learning Plan meetings with families and as the day-to-

day coordination point with the Mountain Top team.

Teacher coaching on differentiation.

Help teachers translate their content into differentiated, accommodation-ready lessons and build

inclusive classroom environments.

Early identification.

Build the intervention workflows that identify struggling students and put supports in place before they

reach probation or ineligibility.

Whole-school academic reporting.

Stand up regular grade-pull and academic reports that give school leadership a current picture of

student progress.

Academic Standing & Family Communication — 25%

The Assistant Principal administers the systems that govern student academic standing and

communicates them clearly and pastorally to families.

Probation and eligibility.

Administer academic probation and ineligibility end to end —

thresholds, FACTS grade pulls, student notification, and parent communication — and

lead the review of whether current thresholds and communications are right.

Athletic eligibility.

Run the weekly grade checks supporting CHSAA athletic eligibility as the school enters sanctioned

competition.

Remediation and onboarding.

Coordinate summer remediation (including Math Academy), grade closeouts, placement testing, and

Base Camp onboarding for conditionally admitted students.

School Administration — 15%

The Assistant Principal carries the administrative duties that require academic authority,

embedded in the daily life of the faculty.

Exams and records.

Own exam logistics and coordinate records for withdrawing and transferring students with the

Registrar.

Policy administration.

Carry the annual handbook and academic-policy review from draft through communication and

enforcement.

Visible presence.

Work from the faculty bullpen — in the middle of teachers all day — keeping the full school day, every

day, with summer hours in support of planning and hiring.

Out of Scope:

The following are explicitly not the responsibility of the Assistant Principal:

Student discipline ownership — the Dean of Students carries the discipline system

Spiritual and human formation programming — the Director of Human Formation and the

Chaplain

Executive assistance to the Principal — scheduling and correspondence sit with the Principal’s

Executive Assistant

Registrar functions — enrollment records and transcripts are owned by the part-time

Registrar (the Assistant Principal coordinates, but does not own)

Qualifications:

Deep Catholic faith and full alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the school

Prior school administrative experience — assistant principal, dean, or equivalent

school-leadership role

Deep classroom teaching experience — ideally in a Catholic, classical setting — with the

credibility to coach on content as well as structure

Formation in — or demonstrated affinity for — classical Catholic education

Organized, process-driven systems-builder committed to a full-day, on-site, 12-month

presence
