Job Description: We are seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and qualified educator to join our faculty for the 2026–2027 school year. This full-time position includes teaching 6th and 7th Grade English Language Arts while serving as the 6th Grade Homeroom Teacher. The ideal candidate is passionate about fostering a love of reading and writing, building meaningful relationships with students, and creating a positive, engaging classroom environment that supports both academic excellence and personal growth.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
● Valid California Teaching Credential, an equivalent out-of-state teaching credential, or a demonstrated commitment to obtaining a California Teaching Credential. (candidates who are currently pursuing credentialing, or planning to begin the credentialing process are encouraged to apply)
● Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students is preferred; experience in a Catholic school setting is highly desirable.
● Strong knowledge of the California Common Core State Standards and the ability to implement standards-based instruction effectively.
● Demonstrated ability to create an engaging, student-centered learning environment and differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
● Excellent classroom management, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
● Commitment to working collaboratively with faculty, administration, students, and families.
● Support for the mission and values of Catholic education. Active participation in the Catholic Church is preferred but not required.
● Current TB clearance and successful completion of all required background checks. Classroom Responsibilities include but are not limited to: ● Teach reading comprehension using fiction and nonfiction texts ● Develop students’ analytical and critical thinking skills ● Teach grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and conventions ● Instruct students in the writing process of- Narrative writing, Informative/explanatory writing, Argumentative writing & Research based writing ● Teach literary analysis and close reading ● Differentiate instruction for diverse learners ● Integrate California Common Core State Standards for ELA ● Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction ● Incorporate educational technology effectively (e.g., Google Classroom, learning management systems) ● Foster discussion, collaboration, and student engagement ● Strong classroom management skills
● To foster the spiritual, academic, social and emotional growth of each student ● Maintain lesson plans and gradebooks for each grade, ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction ● Maintain Learning Sites for each grade ● Provide direct instruction along with other effective teaching methods ● Provide a safe environment when working with students to facilitate their learning. ● Present curriculum and materials in a manner that engages students to learn.
● Works and promotes the school’s philosophy, mission statement, code of conduct, and learning expectations.
● Effectively communicate and partner with parents and colleagues.

● Cross-curricular literacy External Responsibilities: ● Lunch and/or recess duty as assigned by the Principal ● Assist with morning student drop-off and afternoon pick-up line as assigned ● Other duties as assigned by the Principal or leadership Other qualifications Include: ● Willingness to support the mission and philosophy of Saint Hilary School ● Ability to integrate Catholic values across the curriculum ● Support for students’ academic, spiritual, and moral development ● Willingness to participate in school liturgies, prayer services, retreats, and community events ● Collaborative spirit and dedication to fostering a faith-filled learning environment Salary: Starting at $32,097, with higher compensation based on education and years of teaching experience. Schedule: Full-time, 5 days per week. Benefits: Full benefits package included. Position open until filled.
