Academy Overview

Saint Francis Xavier Academy (FXA) is a joyful, family-centered Catholic hybrid academy launching in Dedham, MA this fall, 2026! Uniting the invaluable gifts of the home with the benefits of structured classroom days, FXA operates on a unique schedule: two full in-person instructional days on campus (Tuesdays and Thursdays) complemented by three home days guided by provided lesson plans. Our educational philosophy is deeply rooted in the Catholic tradition and inspired by the heart of St. John Bosco’s educational methods.

Position Overview

FXA is seeking a faith-filled, academically qualified teacher for a combined 5th and 6th Grade classroom (Part-Time). Operating as a self-contained classroom teacher for all core subjects, the 5th/6th Grade Teacher will lead on-campus academic instruction, integrate a vibrant Catholic worldview across disciplines, and provide the curriculum framework that helps students build independent study habits at home.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Instruction: Teach all core academic subjects including Literature, Writing, Mathematics, Science, History, and Religion, from an integrated Catholic perspective during on-campus days (Tuesdays and Thursdays).
Feedback & Mastery: Provide thorough and timely feedback on student work submitted from classroom and home days to gauge student understanding and adjust classroom instruction accordingly. This can be done during the classroom days and minimal hours would be spent outside of academy days for planning and grading.
Bosconian Mentorship: Act as a joyful mentor to students entering their upper-elementary years, utilizing St. John Bosco’s educational approach of gentle accompaniment and mutual respect.
Collaboration: Positive collaboration with administrators, colleagues, and families, to support the launch of a new academic community.

Qualifications

Practicing Catholic with a strong comfort level integrating the Catholic faith across diverse academic disciplines.
Bachelor’s degree in education or similar field
Proven ability to work with students, organize curriculum, and communicate clearly.
