Middle School Mathematics Teacher
St. Finn Barr Catholic School in the Sunnyside neighborhood of San Francisco seeks an enthusiastic teacher for Middle School Mathematics. Must be committed to carrying out the mission and philosophy of the school in collaboration with a dynamic faculty group and in partnership with the parents as the primary educators of their children. High-level enthusiasm, professionalism, fl exibility, and competence are required. In exchange, the school will provide support and resources for an experienced or new teacher to develop his or her professional competencies in the context of a caring community.
JOB TITLE: Middle School Mathematics Teacher
LOCATION: St. Finn Barr Catholic School, San Francisco, CA
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Principal, the accepted candidate is responsible for teaching Middle School Math now through June 5th, 2026. The teacher is responsible for fostering the intellectual, social, physical, and faith development of children in the middle school period of their elementary school experience and specifi cally preparing them for the rigors of high school mathematics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualifi cations & Dispositions
● Has strong experience teaching middle school math (6th–8th preferred), including pre-algebra and algebra
● Demonstrates strong content knowledge and eff ective instructional practice
● Uses engaging, student-centered teaching strategies
● Diff erentiates instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
● Establishes a positive classroom culture grounded in structure, care, and high expectations
● Communicates clearly and partners eff ectively with families and colleagues

● Supports and models the mission and values of Catholic education; demonstrates respect for Church teachings and a commitment to faith formation
● Plans and delivers instruction aligned to school and diocesan curriculum, using eff ective assessment practices to monitor student progress

● Demonstrates professionalism in collaboration, confi dentiality, judgment, and adherence to school policies
● Works cooperatively with administration and staff to support students and the broader school community
● Performs other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifi cations:
● Excellent communications skills including written, verbal, public speaking, and presentation skills
● Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter and be well-organized; must be a team player.
● Be available for evening and weekend work as necessary; have reliable transportation.
● Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
● Profi ciency in the use of computer technology including the use of Google Suite and related technology; ability to maintain confi dentiality.
● Flexibility in assessing needs and strategies and adapting appropriately in a ministerial environment.
● The ability to successfully complete a criminal history and background check.
● Professional bearing and clean and neat personal appearance.
● A working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of fostering lay leadership in the Catholic Church.
● If a baptized Catholic must be a practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
A valid California Teaching Credential (or equivalent from another state) OR in the process of obtaining a CA Teaching Credential
Salary Info:
• Salary based on Archdiocese of San Francisco Elementary Teacher Salary Guidelines,
ranging from $62,194-$138,967.
• Salary placement is determined based on experience, education, credentials and advanced
degrees and certifi cations.
