Regina Luminis Academy, a classical school in the Catholic liberal arts tradition, seeks qualified and faithful Substitute Teachers to support our faculty and students as needed. Substitute teachers play an important role in maintaining continuity of instruction and upholding the school’s academic standards, culture of virtue, and Catholic identity.

Job Summary

The Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This role requires the ability to follow lesson plans, maintain an orderly and respectful classroom environment, and support the intellectual, moral, and spiritual formation of students in accordance with the mission of Regina Luminis Academy.

Specific Responsibilities

Implement lesson plans and instructional activities as provided by the regular classroom teacher.
Maintain a classroom atmosphere characterized by discipline, respect, and charity.
Supervise students during class periods and other assigned duties.
Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
Communicate relevant information to faculty and administration regarding student behavior or classroom activities.
Uphold school policies, procedures, and expectations consistently.
Serve as a professional and virtuous role model for students.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to manage a classroom effectively and maintain appropriate authority.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Flexibility and adaptability in a variety of classroom settings and grade levels.
Appreciation for classical education and its emphasis on order, reason, and virtue.
Commitment to the teachings and moral vision of the Catholic Church.
Professional demeanor and reliability.
Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with faculty and administration.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree preferred; associate degree or relevant coursework considered.
Prior teaching, substitute teaching, or experience working with children or adolescents is desirable.
Teaching certification is preferred but not required.
Familiarity with or openness to classical education and Catholic pedagogy is strongly preferred.
