Job Summary
The Middle School Teacher is responsible for instructing students in one or more academic subjects in accordance with classical methods and the mission of Regina Luminis Academy. This role includes creating an engaging, disciplined, and Christ-centered learning environment that fosters intellectual growth, moral development, and a love of learning. The teacher will guide students through a period of profound personal and academic growth, supporting both their cognitive and spiritual formation.
Specific Responsibilities
Plan and deliver lessons that reflect the school’s classical curriculum and Catholic identity.
Teach assigned subjects to middle school students with clarity, rigor, and enthusiasm.
Foster a classroom environment characterized by respect, discipline, and curiosity.
Integrate moral and spiritual formation into daily instruction in age-appropriate ways.
Assess student learning through regular assignments, tests, and formative feedback.
Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and conduct.
Communicate regularly and professionally with parents, colleagues, and administration.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events.
Serve as a model of Christian virtue, integrity, and intellectual curiosity.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong content knowledge in assigned subject area(s) appropriate to middle school students.
Ability to present material clearly and adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Understanding of adolescent development and strategies to foster engagement, discipline, and motivation.
Appreciation for classical education and its emphasis on intellectual and moral formation.
Commitment to the teachings and moral vision of the Catholic Church.
Effective classroom management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate with colleagues and pursue ongoing professional growth.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
Teaching certification preferred but not required for well-qualified candidates.
Prior experience teaching middle school students is desirable, though motivated candidates new to teaching are encouraged to apply.
Familiarity with or openness to classical education and Catholic pedagogy is strongly preferred.
