Regina Luminis Academy, a classical school in the Catholic liberal arts tradition, seeks a Middle School Math Teacher who is passionate about cultivating both mathematical understanding and virtuous character in young adolescents. Job Summary
The Middle School Math Teacher is responsible for teaching mathematics to middle school students in accordance with classical pedagogy and the mission of Regina Luminis Academy. This role includes guiding students in the development of mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and intellectual habits of precision and rigor. The teacher will support students’ personal growth, moral development, and formation in a Christ-centered environment.
Specific Responsibilities
Plan and deliver middle school mathematics instruction aligned with the school’s classical curriculum.
Teach concepts in arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, or other grade-appropriate math courses with clarity and rigor.
Foster a classroom environment marked by curiosity, discipline, and mutual respect.
Integrate moral and intellectual formation into lessons in ways appropriate to middle school students.
Assess student progress through assignments, tests, and formative feedback, and maintain accurate records of grades and attendance.
Communicate effectively and professionally with parents, colleagues, and administration regarding student progress and needs.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
Serve as a model of Christian virtue, intellectual honesty, and enthusiasm for learning.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong understanding of middle school mathematics content and pedagogy.
Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and adapt instruction for diverse learners.
Skill in fostering logical reasoning, problem-solving, and mathematical confidence in students.
Appreciation for classical education and the role of mathematics within the liberal arts.
Commitment to the teachings and moral vision of the Catholic Church.
Effective classroom management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate with colleagues and pursue ongoing professional growth.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field required.
Teaching certification is preferred but not required for well-qualified candidates.
Prior experience teaching middle school mathematics is desirable, though motivated candidates new to teaching are encouraged to apply.
Familiarity with or openness to classical education and Catholic pedagogy is strongly preferred.
