About Us
Our Lady Star of the Sea is a Catholic liberal arts elementary school (Pre-K–8) serving approximately 235 students. Committed to forming missionary disciples, we emphasize Christ-centered education grounded in faith, reason, virtue, beauty, and family.

Ideal Candidate
Our Lady Star of the Sea is seeking a primary 3rd-grade teacher for the start of the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will possess an excellent liberal arts background, a worldview informed by Catholic anthropology, and the ability and desire to teach any grade level between 1st and 5th grade. OLSOS is interested in both experienced teachers and those with a passion for young people and a willingness to pursue growth in the profession through regular coaching, professional development, and appropriate further study. The administration is committed to supporting both early-career and veteran teachers in their vocation.
Responsibilities
- Teach a self-contained primary classroom, including religion, literacy, humanities, math, science, and writing in the Catholic Liberal Arts tradition.
- Develop lesson and unit plans consistent with Archdiocesan standards and best practices in Catholic Liberal Arts education.
- Differentiate instruction, assessment, and engagement for students with diverse learning needs.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding students’ academic progress and human formation, and actively develop positive home–school relationships.
- Reflect on pedagogical practices through regular observation and coaching.
- Participate in other roles as part of the school community, including assisting with student retreats and concerts, attending open houses, and supervising recess.
- Participate actively in the professional community through collaboration with colleagues in a range of contexts.
- Serve as homeroom teacher, facilitating parent–teacher conferences, greeting students at the beginning and end of the day, and coordinating with colleagues during grade-specific activities.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Successful applicants will embody Our Lady Star of the Sea’s commitment to Christian intellectual, spiritual, and moral formation. They should meet or exceed the following requirements:
- Practicing Catholic
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to form relationships with students, colleagues, parents, outside stakeholders, and the larger school community
- Ability to manage record-keeping for a variety of students
- Possession of a Washington State teaching credential or willingness and ability to pursue certification
- Completion of VIRTUS safe-environment training and a background check
Physical Requirements
Ability to physically perform the duties and work in the environmental conditions required, such as:
- Functioning in classroom space — walking, sitting, standing, reaching
- Ability to sit for up to two hours using a computer (monitor, keyboard/mouse) and typing
- Ability to stand for up to two hours while instructing a classroom of learners
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently
Benefits Information
Salary based upon education and experience. Compensation ranges from $45,000–$65,000.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, the applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
