Long Beach Catholic School is seeking a faithful, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Middle School English Language Arts Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026-2027 school year.

As we continue our transition to a classical Catholic model, our English Language Arts program seeks to cultivate students who read deeply, write clearly, speak confidently, and think critically through an encounter with great literature and timeless ideas.
Responsibilities
The Middle School ELA Teacher will:
• Teach English Language Arts to students in Grades 5-8
• Foster a love of reading through great works of literature, poetry, and classic texts
• Develop students’ writing skills through instruction in grammar, composition, vocabulary, and rhetoric
• Lead thoughtful classroom discussions that encourage critical thinking and charitable dialogue
• Introduce students to the richness of the literary tradition, including works that reflect the Catholic intellectual heritage
• Encourage students to communicate with clarity, creativity, and confidence in both writing and speaking
• Create a structured, engaging, and orderly classroom environment where students can flourish
• Collaborate with faculty and administration to support the school’s classical Catholic mission
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and classroom expectations
• Support the Catholic identity and spiritual life of Long Beach Catholic School
Qualifications
The ideal candidate:
• Is faithful and committed to the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church
• Actively participates in the sacramental life of the Catholic Church
• Holds a bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field
• Demonstrates a strong knowledge of literature, grammar, writing instruction, and middle school pedagogy
• Appreciates or is eager to learn about classical Catholic education and the Great Books tradition
• Brings enthusiasm, creativity, and a genuine love of literature into the classroom
• Establishes high expectations while fostering a joyful, respectful learning environment
• Is organized, collaborative, and committed to the academic and spiritual formation of students
