Long Beach Catholic School is seeking faith-filled mission-driven candidates for anticipated Early Childhood & Elementary teaching positions for the 2026-2027 Academic Year.
1. Faith Formation & Catholic Identity
Integrate Faith into Learning: Weave Catholic values, teachings, and Christian anthropology into all subject areas, not just formal Religion class.
Model Christian Living: Serve as a spiritual role model for students by demonstrating a personal prayer life, virtue, and active participation in the Church.
Liturgical Participation: Prepare students for and participate in school liturgies, prayer services, retreats, and seasonal events (such as Advent and Lent).
2. Instructional & Academic Duties
Curriculum Implementation: Teach a comprehensive elementary curriculum (English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science) aligned with New York State learning standards and Diocesan guidelines.
Differentiated Instruction: Create lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles and provide access and inclusion for children with varied learning needs.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring: Design and administer traditional and contemporary assessments to track student progress, utilizing data to drive instruction.
Classroom Management: Establish a safe, structured, nurturing, and disciplined classroom environment rooted in mutual respect and Christian charity.
3. Professionalism & Community Collaboration
Parental Engagement: Maintain consistent, professional, and empathetic communication with parents and guardians, recognizing them as the primary educators of their children.
Collective Collaboration: Work closely with the school Principal, fellow faculty members, and parish staff to build a vibrant school-parish community.
Professional Development: Participate in ongoing Diocesan faculty meetings, professional workshops, and spiritual formation days.
4. Job Requirements & Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education (or a related field) from an accredited college or university is required. A Master’s Degree is highly preferred.
Certification: Valid New York State Teaching Certification (e.g., Childhood Education Grades 1–6) is required or obtained within a three years of hiring.
5. Faith-Based & Safety Requirements
Practicing Catholic: Candidates teaching general elementary classrooms (which include Religion) must be practicing Roman Catholics in good standing with the Church, committed to its moral teachings and sacramental life.
Catechist Certification: Teachers are often required to obtain or work toward Diocesan Catechist Certification through the DRVC Office of Faith Formation.
Child Protection Compliance: All employees must complete VIRTUS training (“Protecting God’s Children”)
