About Holy Angels Academy:

Holy Angels is a private, independent co-ed Catholic school serving students from 3-year-old pre-kindergarten through Grade Twelve. 1st Grade Teacher Purpose:

The 1st Grade Teacher, under the general supervision of the Headmaster, advises on, and implements the 1st  grade curriculum, teaching all subject matters while nurturing a joy and love of learning.

Responsibilities:

• Plans and implements shared lessons for students in all subject areas.
• Maintains ongoing record of student behavioral and academic progress, documenting concerns, providing feedback to students and regularly communicating student progress with parents and the school administration.
• Implements a variety of teaching techniques, providing for individual or small group instruction as needed to meet diverse student needs.
• Establishes clear expectations, procedures, and routines for student behavior in the classroom and reinforces school expectations.
• Maintains a positive classroom environment centered around virtue and respect.
• Addresses student failure to meet expectations and provides appropriate discipline as needed.
• Models appropriate participation in daily school prayers and daily Mass.
• Leads students in prayers throughout the day such as the Angelus, Rosary, Grace before Meals, and the Act of Contrition.
• Keep staff and parents informed of the progress of each student through the Academy’s assessment and reporting systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested including attending professional development and meetings.

Qualifications: 

• Passionately Catholic and in full communion with the Magisterium of the Church and the mission of Holy Angels Academy.
• Bachelor degree in elementary education or similar field is preferred.
  Experience teaching is preferred.
• Ability to use discretion, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to effectively communicate, both in verbal and written form, with students, fellow faculty/staff, and parents.
