Founding Head of School — Good Shepherd Classical Academy
Location: Baldwin County, Alabama
Anticipated Opening: August 2027
School Model: Independent Catholic Classical Hybrid School
Good Shepherd Classical Academy seeks a deeply Catholic, mission-driven, entrepreneurial leader to serve as its inaugural Head of School and help establish a new Catholic classical school in Baldwin County, Alabama.
With approval from the Archbishop of Mobile to proceed, our founding Board is working toward an August 2027 opening.
Our Mission and Model
Good Shepherd Classical Academy will partner with parents in the sacred work of forming children in truth, goodness, and beauty. Our distinctive hybrid model combines three days of on-campus instruction with two days of guided learning at home, honoring parents as the primary educators of their children.
Rooted in the Catholic faith and classical tradition, our educational approach emphasizes great books, wonder, virtue, beauty, sacramental life, and the formation of the whole child. The wisdom of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an important influence on our reverence for the child and the child’s relationship with God.
The Opportunity
Our Founding Head of School will work closely with the Board to:
Recruit, develop, and lead a mission-aligned founding faculty.
Establish a cohesive Catholic classical curriculum and hybrid instructional model.
Build a joyful, authentically Catholic school culture.
Recruit and support founding families.
Develop the systems and operations necessary to open and sustain the school.
Partner with the Board in community outreach, fundraising, and long-term planning.
Ideal Candidate
We seek a practicing Catholic with strong leadership abilities, a deep commitment to Catholic education, and the courage and creativity to build something new.
Experience in classical education is strongly preferred, along with demonstrated educational leadership, organizational ability, and a genuine love for children and families.
Prior Head of School experience is welcome but not required. We especially value candidates who have successfully built programs, teams, ministries, or other initiatives from the ground up.
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Relocation to Baldwin County, Alabama, is required for candidates not already local.
