6th – 12th Grade Science Teacher
Divine Mercy Academy is an independent classical school located in beautiful Belgrade, MT and offers pre-K to 12th education in the Catholic Classical tradition, DMA is looking for passionate, hardworking teachers to fill one or more positions.
Divine Mercy Academy is looking for teachers who can provide an exciting and rigorous academic and faith formation experience. Our science teacher will help instill a love of the subject while being able communicate clearly how God has used the science to create the known world. We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about forming young souls and accompanying them in their academic journey.
Position Overview
The upper school science teacher will teach middle and high school science courses including the following;
- Science in the ancient world, this is a largely activity based class that covers historical scientific ideas and advancements from the ancient world (6th)
- Life science (7th)
- Earth science (8th)
- Introductory physics, algebra based (9th)
- Chemistry (10th)
- Biology (11th)
Responsibilities
- Instruct the above subjects for junior high and high school students.
- Craft assignments and other experiences that will successfully inculcate students with a love of the sciences and more generally, to inspire in them a curiosity to seek out knowledge as a lifelong habit.
- Test and evaluate students.
- Foster a classroom environment that allows for intellectual curiosity, mutual respect and living the gospel values.
- Communicate clearly with school leadership, parents, and students.
- Work with other faculty to fulfill the overall mission of the school.
- Remain faithful to the teaching of the Catholic Church while modelling a faithful, joy-filled life.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science, or liberal arts with a strong interest in the sciences.
- Practicing Catholic in communion with the Magisterium of the Church.
- Desire to work with adolescents and form them in the Catholic Faith.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to students’ learning, personal growth and faith formation.
- Must be able to pass the required background check.
Compensation
The starting salary for this position will vary between $38,000 and $42,000 depending on experience and qualification.
Additionally, Divine Mercy Academy will provide paid opportunities for personal and professional growth annually, matching 401k contributions and paid time off.
