Middle/High School Science Teacher

Cardinal Kung Academy is a classical, college preparatory school registering sixth through twelfth grade students.  The academically rigorous Catholic school is part of the Diocese of Bridgeport and is located in Stamford, CT.  The program balances a rigorous math and science curriculum with reading original texts, use of the Socratic method, an integrated curriculum, and an appreciation of the arts while forming students in the practice of the Faith.

The ideal candidate is an energetic, joyful and organized instructor responsible for planning, preparing, teaching, grading and sharing his/her love for learning and the Church.  Candidates need at least a bachelor’s degree (strong preference for graduate degree) and several years of experience teaching Sciences at the middle and high school level.  This teacher would collaborate with colleagues within the Science Department as we develop a more hands-on/observational middle school curriculum and continue to refine a rigorous high school curriculum.

This teacher will primarily be responsible for teaching classes in the Sciences, though interest in teaching in other disciplines is also welcome.  An additional element of this role may be to serve as a homeroom teacher and advisor, coaching students on a daily basis in successful study habits, developing social skills, and virtuous living.  The ideal candidate is also comfortable developing and leading activities that will complement the curriculum in order to reinforce the habits and skills expected of a CKA student. Occasional evening and weekend events to meet with parents, promote the school, or chaperone student activities will be expected.

Faculty and staff sign an oath of fidelity to the Magisterium and statement of faith (Nicene Creed).  As mentors and teachers, faculty lead students in prayer, spiritual reflection, and formal and informal catechesis.  As an apostolate of the Diocese of Bridgeport, faculty are considered ministers of the Church and are expected to conduct themselves accordingly.

Our school is entering its ninth year, and we expect significant growth in the coming years, so applicants will have advancement opportunities.
