Headmaster

Lumen Christi Catholic School, an independent Catholic school in Indianapolis with 125 students in pre-K through high school, is seeking a Headmaster for the 2025-26 school year. The Headmaster serves as the leader of Lumen Christi, both within the school as an educational and administrative leader to our students and teachers and outside our school to our families and the general public.

The Headmaster is responsible for ensuring the spiritual, moral and educational growth of our students while also promoting the institutional growth of the school and managing its administrative functions.

The Headmaster reports to the Board of Directors, and is the direct supervisor of the Elementary and High School Principals and administrative staff. The Headmaster is also accountable for overseeing all other school personnel, students, and volunteers.  The Headmaster must be an excellent communicator and maintain a collaborative relationship to direct and nurture all members of the school staff and to communicate effectively to parents, the board of directors, and the outside community.

All Lumen Christi faculty must be practicing Catholics in good standing with the Church and take an Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium at the beginning of each school year.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in education, Catholic theology, or other relevant field.
• 4+ years in school administration
• Strong leadership abilities and excellent people management skills
• Superior written and oral communication skills
• Familiarity and alignment with the mission of Lumen Christi Catholic School
• Legal authorization to be employed in the United States

ADDITIONAL SKILLS/PREFERENCES

• Training in school administration (master’s degree in school administration, educational leadership, or related field is preferred)
• Teaching experience, preferably in a classical school environment
• Understanding of classical curriculum and liberal arts education
• Knowledge of institutional advancement, recruiting, fundraising, marketing and development
