Early Education Assistant Teacher, Montessori Program
Full time, 10-month position (Hours: M-F, 7:15- 3:15 PM)

Start Date: August 1, 2024

St. Benedict Classical Academy—a Catholic, classical, character-focused elementary school serving children ages 3-12—is currently seeking a qualified, experienced Assistant Early Childhood Educator to join the faculty of our growing Montessori-inspired Early Education program.

We are looking for a warm, capable, reliable educator who is enthusiastic about our Christ-centered mission, has knowledge about early childhood development and education and is excited to take part in the continued development of a well-enrolled/resourced Early Education Program rooted in Montessori methodology and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd religious formation. Montessori certification, training and/or experience would be highly valued but are not required. We are open to providing needed Montessori and/or CGS training to the right candidate who is looking for a long-term position.

This new Assistant Teacher will partner with a Lead Teacher and serve a class of roughly 15-18 students between ages of three and five.

SBCA attracts families from nearly forty towns in Greater Boston, all of whom partner fully with their children’s exceptional teachers in forming students to become the saints they are called to be. As we look forward and plan for the 12th year of our K-8 program and the 7th year of our early childhood education program, we look back on more than a decade of sustained growth and vibrancy. Enrollment, faculty, staff, administration and even our physical footprint have all quadrupled in size over this period of time. Our tight-knit, friendly and engaged faculty have moved to the area from across the nation to join us in building a school for the Lord’s work, which acts as a beacon of hope and joy in the Greater Boston education and Catholic communities. This spring marks the groundbreaking for our permanent campus. Now is an incredible time to join us!

This unique opportunity in the youngest part of our program is calling those searching for a new professional home where they can unite their Faith with their teaching career and make a positive impact in the lives of our young students and their families (Competitive salary and benefits commensurate with education/experience.)

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • A strong commitment to our school’s mission and the Catholic faith.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree preferred (preferably in a directly relevant field of study: early childhood education, elementary education, special education, child psychology, etc.).
  • Enthusiasm for the Montessori method of education.
  • Knowledge of and respect for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Religious education (CGS Level 1 training or willingness to undertake training).
  • A positive outlook, good sense of humor and willingness to help continue to support a new program at a young school.
  • Direct experience in and a deep and meaningful love of working with young children and their primary educators, their parents.
  • Ability to enjoy lots of outdoor time with students all year round, in all kinds of weather conditions.
  • Ability to handle the at-times physically demanding work of teaching/caring for three, four and five year old children (can include heavy lifting, frequent squatting/kneeling, 30+ minute periods of standing).
  • Willingness to serve either our before care or after care program (for an additional stipend).
