Saint Francis Classical Catholic Academy
Bally, Pennsylvania
As our name suggests, we are a Classical and Catholic School, and at their essence, these terms refer to the ultimate purpose of a Catholic education, which is to help children better know, love, and serve God in this world so they can be with Him in the next. Or, to put it more simply, we are a "Heaven-Prep" school with a goal to form "Smart-Saints."
In the process of pursuing those heavenly goals, your children will, as a matter of course, learn everything that any wise and hard-working American student should know to become a good neighbor, critical thinker, and self-sufficient citizen. As you will discover, our Great Books, Liberal Arts and Sciences Curriculum is second to none, and will instill in your children a deep knowledge of the history and literature of western civilization; the ability to read and write at a superior level; a thorough understanding of the scientific laws and features that govern the natural world; a firm command of mathematics; a love of our country's ideals and institutions; an appreciation for the beauty of the fine arts; and the confidence that comes from athletic competition. We are committed to academic excellence.
As important as those academic skills are, and these days they are more important than ever as other schools abandon notions of merit and achievement, it is important to remember that they are a means to a greater end, and involve the formation of young ladies and gentlemen of high character and moral worth. In addition to all of the academic disciplines, we teach kids the cardinal virtues of courage, prudence, temperance and justice; and the theological virtues of faith, hope, and charity. It takes practice, and a lot of hard work, to form good persons, which is why our teachers not only have to be superb scholars, but must also model virtue 24/7. And that is what they are hired to do!
We hope that this introduction provides a useful glimpse into what makes our school tick. Thanks again for your interest in SFCCA, and we look forward to making our school another home for your children.
