The Atonement Catholic Academy, a classical Catholic school, seeks a passionate and dedicated Humane Letters teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic educator who is deeply committed to the classical tradition of education, guiding students toward the cultivation of wisdom, virtue, and beauty through the study of great works in literature, history, and philosophy.
Position: Humane Letters Teacher (Grades 9-12)

Key Responsibilities:
Teach Humane Letters courses, which integrate the study of classical literature, history, and philosophy with a focus on guiding students toward a deep understanding of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness.
Foster a rich, Socratic classroom environment that emphasizes critical thinking, discussion, and the development of virtues such as humility, integrity, and wisdom.
Inspire students to seek understanding through careful reading, reflection, and dialogue, encouraging the exploration of the profound ideas that have shaped Western thought.
Lead students to make connections between the classical texts they study and their own lives, helping them recognize the moral and spiritual dimensions of these works.
Participate actively in the school’s religious life, integrating Catholic teachings and the spiritual formation of students into the curriculum.
Collaborate with fellow faculty members to ensure the integrity and effectiveness of the classical curriculum.
Encourage students to engage in public speaking, writing, and debate to develop eloquence and effective communication skills.
Work closely with the administration to promote the mission of the school and contribute to ongoing professional development in classical education.
Qualifications:
A deep understanding of classical literature, history, and philosophy, especially in the context of the Catholic intellectual tradition.
A passion for classical education and the ability to inspire students through a love of the great books and ideas of Western civilization.
A commitment to the Catholic faith and the integration of Catholic doctrine into the educational experience.
Experience teaching in a classical or liberal arts setting, particularly at the high school level, is preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with students, parents, and faculty.
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
