Job Title: Classical 1st and 2nd Grade Teacher

Job Overview
Stella Maris Academy seeks a passionate and dedicated Classical 1st and 2nd Grade Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a combined class of 1st and 2nd graders, providing a classical education that emphasizes the integration of our Catholic faith, academics, and virtue formation. The teacher will guide students in developing academic skills and knowledge, a love for learning, and a strong moral character while nurturing their individual growth in a supportive and faith-based environment.

Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Plan and implement a classical curriculum that combines content-rich instruction in subjects such as literature, grammar, math, history, science, and Latin. Focus on integrating a Catholic worldview across subjects.
Classroom Management: Create a structured and supportive classroom environment of procedures that encourage active participation, respect, and engagement.
Student Development: Foster students’ intellectual, moral, and spiritual growth. Tailor classical instruction with attention to developing the whole child.
Character Education: Incorporate virtue-based lessons and promote moral development in alignment with the school’s Catholic mission.
Assessment: Regularly evaluate student performance through formal and informal assessments, including formative and summative assessments, written assignments, and oral presentations. Provide feedback to students and parents regarding progress.
Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, colleagues, and administration regarding students’ progress and classroom activities. Participate in parent-teacher conferences as needed.
Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development related to Catholic classical education and participate in school-related activities, staff meetings, and events.
Faith Integration: Model Catholic theological and moral virtue in and out of the classroom, integrate faith-based principles into appropriate daily lessons, and support the spiritual development of students.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a focus on the liberal arts, classical education, or other traditional academic disciplines.
Experience: Previous teaching experience, especially in classical education or Catholic classical elementary settings, is highly desirable.
Certifications: Not required. Candidates with a strong background in classical liberal arts education or those willing to pursue additional training in this field are encouraged to apply.

Passion for Catholic classical education and the ability to inspire young students.
Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Ability to adapt Classical teaching strategies to accommodate learning needs.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Commitment to continuous classical liberal arts  learning and personal Catholic faith development.
