SJI is hiring a teacher for the Humanities Seminar. The Seminar in Humanities is the centerpiece of the SJI curriculum. Students take up the deepest questions of human existence through oral and written reflection on significant literary and artistic works, as well as through the study of history. Students are taught how to read carefully, how to annotate works, and how to prepare for a fruitful seminar discussion. The Seminar in Humanities interweaves the study of the Bible, the history of the Church, and Catholic teaching throughout the year, laying an important foundation for incorporating these topics in the other seminars and studios. They also work their way through a thoughtful and rigorous Writing Program to build their technical and rhetorical skills.
We are seeking a candidate with an active intellectual life who desires to live in a community of scholars devoted to the cultivation of virtue and wisdom in their students. We follow the seminar method in all of our classes and are looking to hire a teacher who is capable of leading meaningful and careful discussions about profound and difficult texts.
St. Jerome Institute (SJI), a co-ed liberal arts high school in the Catholic tradition, is now hiring for the 2025-2026 school year. Founded in 2019, SJI is a classical liberal arts high school that has reinvented traditional education to meet the challenges of our time. Our curriculum opens the most fundamental questions of the human heart at the very moment when young men and women are longing to understand themselves and their place in the world. Shoulder to shoulder with great thinkers, writers, artists, and saints, and led by the light of the Catholic intellectual tradition, we embark on a grand journey of academic excellence and joyful self-discovery.
