Salary Range: $60,000.00 to $65,000.00 per year

Position Summary: Junipero Serra High School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Athletics Trainer to join our athletics department. Under the supervision of the Head Athletics Trainer, this position is responsible for the care, prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injuries for our student athletes. The ideal candidate will be committed to supporting the school’s Catholic mission and will contribute to the development of young men as individuals of faith, wisdom, service, community, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct care to student-athletes, including emergency care, injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and follow-up care.
• Administer therapies such as mechanical stimulation, heat, cold, light, water, massage, and therapeutic exercises as permitted by licensure.
• Assist in the prevention, recognition, and immediate treatment of athletic injuries.
• Collaborate and maintain relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, coaches, and parents to ensure comprehensive care and communication.
• Serve as a liaison between student-athletes, families, medical professionals, and school administration.
• Educate student-athletes and staff on injury prevention, treatment protocols, and wellness.
• Provide input on athletes’ fitness levels and conditioning; use current, evidence-based practices for assessment and rehabilitation.
• Maintain and manage the athletic training room, including inventory, equipment maintenance, and cleanliness.
• Apply protective devices such as tape, bandages and braces before and after practices and games.
• Ensure all activities within the athletic training program align with the standards of Junipero Serra High School, the Archdiocese, WCAL, CCS, and CIF.
• Stay current with state regulations and compliance related to athletic training.
• Assist in maintaining accurate medical records and documentation of student-athlete care.
• Supervise the training room and equipment whenever in use.
• Attend home and away athletic events based on a schedule coordinated with the Head Athletics Trainer and Athletic Director.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
• Board Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) recognized by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA).
• 1–3 years of experience working with high school athletes and/or in a physical therapy setting preferred.
• Must possess the physical ability to perform strenuous activities related to athletic training.
• Additional qualifications as deemed appropriate by the school.
