Regina Caeli Academy of Columbus (RCAC), a new independent classical liberal arts school in the Catholic tradition, is seeking a part-time Kindergarten teacher beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year. This is an exciting opportunity to put your years of teaching experience into action as we lay the foundation for an education that is authentically Catholic and committed to academic and moral excellence. This part-time position serves the entire kindergarten program which, as part of RCAC’s modified weekly schedule, meets three (3) days a week. The strongest candidates will be passionate about the Catholic faith, have at least three (3) years of teaching experience, and possess a great love for forming the minds and souls of the youngest children.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will:

– Be a practicing Roman Catholic with good moral character, joyfully living out the teachings of the Catholic Church.
– Possess a Bachelor’s degree, or higher, at an accredited college or university.
– Have at least three (3) years of teaching experience, ideally in a classical liberal arts setting.
– Be genuinely interested in teaching a classical curriculum including, phonics, literature, poetry, Latin prayers, and have a willingness to participate in professional development related to imparting a Catholic liberal arts education.
– Show excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children, families, Administration, and other faculty.
– Be professional, hardworking, a self-starter, energetic, and have a joyful attitude so as to win the admiration and affection of students.
– Take an Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium and the local Ordinary, the Bishop of Columbus.

Job Responsibilities:

Above all, the teacher is responsible for ensuring that the Catholic faith is at the heart of the classroom. This includes a consistent life of prayer, an emphasis on the liturgical life of the Church (seasons and feast days), Christ-centered lessons and activities, and a spirit of joy.
– Partner with the Administration to establish an authentic and rich Catholic culture in line with the vision set forth by the Founders and Board of Directors.
– Plan and implement an integrated classical curriculum.
– Oversees all aspects of classroom operation.
– Manage the class by setting clear expectations of behavior, establishing reasonable routines, and promoting self-discipline.
– Monitor children’s interactions and nurture cooperation.
– Maintain a thorough record keeping system to accurately note and assess the progress of each child.
– Build relationships and communicate with parents weekly through newsletters, conferences and other means discussing academic and personal progress. As well as informing parents of specific topics of study and certain language used within the classroom.
– Maintain a professional attitude, including a timeless attire and demeanor. As this is the school’s inaugural year, it is important to keep an open mind, enthusiastic attitude, and collaborative spirit.
-Additional duties, normative of a teaching position, will be required.

Regina Caeli Academy of Columbus (RCAC) is an independent classical liberal arts school in the Catholic tradition. We serve children in Columbus, Ohio from kindergarten through eighth (8th) grade. As with most good things, we are starting small. Opening our doors to Kindergarteners in the fall of 2024, we plan to add one to two grades each academic year. We offer a modified-weekly schedule to support the well-being of families. Specifically, Kindergarten meets three (3) days a week and Grades 1-8 meet four (4) days a week.
