Website Petoskey St. Michael High School - A Chesterton Academy Petoskey, Michigan

St. Michael High School (SMHS), a Catholic Classical Academy in Petoskey, Michigan is looking for a brilliant, energetic, and faith-filled educator to teach three to four combination Art History / Studio Art courses in our rigorous and inspiring Chesterton Schools Network Fine Arts Curriculum. The ability to teach courses in other areas of our curriculum would help comprise a full-time position.  If teaching Art only, the position would be part-time.  This position would commence August 15, 2024.

The St. Michael core curriculum is dedicated to propagating the harmony of faith and reason and features an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to learning in general, which encompasses the fine arts. Students are shepherded through the primary eras of secular and sacred art history, with 9th grade focused on the classical civilizations of Greece and Rome; 10th grade on the medieval world of Christendom; 11th grade on Renaissance and Enlightenment European culture; and 12th grade on Modern Art and Photography.

Each grade has a separate art curriculum and meets twice a week, with one session devoted primarily to Art History and the other on Studio applications. Classes are enrollment-driven, so there is a possibility that some grades will be combined.

Please send a cover letter, resume, three references, a short sample of academic work, and a one-page statement of educational philosophy in the Catholic liberal arts tradition to Headmaster Mr. Kevin Weed at: kweed@stmichaelchesterton.org | kweedteacher@gmail.com or call 906-869-4778 with questions.
