Job Description: Teacher, Full Time*

Our Lady Seat of Wisdom, a Chesterton Academy is a Catholic classical high school in north metro Denver which exists to be a joyful haven where students grow in wisdom and encounter our Lord Jesus Christ for the glory of God and the salvation of souls. We educate students in the Western civilization tradition and the liberal arts and sciences. We are seeking versatile, full-time teachers whose love of their subject is matched by their love of teaching and forming high school students in the Catholic faith.

The candidate must be a practicing Catholic and willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium. Candidates ideally have previous teaching experience, and demonstrate excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field by the time of employment. Candidates must be pursuing their own spiritual development and living in a manner that provides a good example of a Catholic life. Candidates must actively support the mission and vision of the Chesterton Academies.

The candidate should possess teaching ability, content excellence, classroom management skills, and the capacity to take on extra-curricular duties, clubs, mentorship in the Houses System (the House system is designed to promote character and virtue and to help students grow in holiness), and other duties as assigned. Faculty members are required to attend daily Mass with the entire student body and participate in spiritual retreats or other school activities.

The ideal candidate will be willing to teach an array of subjects within the following disciplines. The particular assigned teaching load will vary depending on the aptitude of the candidate and the school’s needs.

Humanities, Courses may include Latin, Literature, Philosophy, Theology, and History.

Mathematics. Courses may include Euclidean Geometry, Algebra I, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.

Natural Science. Courses may include Astronomy, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Fine Arts. Courses may include Art History & Studio Art, Music History, Choir, Drama, and Social Dance.

Position Details

Schedule: All faculty are highly encouraged to attend the CSN Annual Summit, June 17-20, 2024. Employment starts August 1, 2024. Faculty report for in-service training in mid-August. During June and July, teachers are expected to devote 10-15 hours per week to class preparation.

Classification: Exempt

Salary Range: $43,000 – $80,000 for full time, highly dependent on experience, skills, education, and other factors permitted under Colorado law, prorated for part-time or reduced class schedule.

Our Lady Seat of Wisdom, a Chesterton Academy, opening in August 2024, is an authentically Catholic liberal arts high school in Northglenn, Colorado. It is a member of the Chesterton Schools Network that began in 2008 as a result of a grass-roots movement of parents to revitalize Catholic liberal education in high school.
