Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Curriculum and Lesson Planning: Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with the Catholic Liberal Arts, including grade-level standards and curriculum across subject areas
- Differentiated Instruction: Implement a variety of teaching techniques to meet the diverse needs of students
- Classroom Environment: Create a positive, structured, and collaborative classroom environment that is centered on Catholic values and promotes student learning and growth
- Discipline: Approach student discipline from a spiritual approach that cultivates virtue and, like St. John Bosco’s Preventative System, focuses more on preventing misconduct through “reason, religion, and loving kindness,” rather than punishment.
- Communication: Communicate regularly, effectively, and collaboratively with all members of the school community, including parents, faculty, staff, and students
- Model Catholic Faith: Actively participate in daily school prayers, Mass, Catholic devotions, and other liturgical traditions as well as model Catholic virtues for students
Qualifications
- Fidelity to Catholic Teaching: Must be passionately Catholic and in full communion with the Magisterium of the Church, embracing and promoting the mission of Holy Spirit Catholic School
- Education: Bachelor degree from an accredited four-year college or university in teaching or in a related field
- Experience: Prior elementary and/or middle school teaching experience is preferred, but not required
- Skills:
- Strong verbal and written proficiency
- Passion for learning and for teaching in ways that inspire wonder and awe and a passion for learning in others
- Advanced understanding of mathematics
