High School History Teacher

Holy Family Classical School seeking a High School History Teacher for the ’24-’25 school year. This ministerial, teaching position will report to the Head of the School. This position is a part-time position which may become a full-time position with the addition of junior high history courses or in combination with other high school positions for a qualified teacher. This teacher will have the opportunity to participate in the ongoing development of the high school’s classical history curriculum.

The 2024-2025 school year will be the third year of Holy Family Classical School’s High School program, with students in grades 9-11. One 9th grade Ancient History (Greek & Roman) course and one 10th/11th grade Modern History (~16th-19th century) course will be offered in ’24-’25, with additional courses offered in Medieval History, U.S. History, U.S. Government, and Oklahoma History in future years.

QUALIFICATIONS
• A practicing Catholic in good standing who is joyfully striving to live according to Christ’s words;
• Fidelity to the Magisterium in thought, word, and deed;
• Familiarity with classical educational methods and/or openness to learning about and implementing the same;
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and teaching certification or willingness to obtain certification or alternative licensure; Master’s degree or higher is highly desirable but not required.

• Ability to adapt teaching methods to a wide variety of students and circumstances;

• Flexibility and adaptability in and out of the classroom;

Classroom/Activities Management:
• Understand, appreciate, and implement positive discipline in the context of virtue-ethics;
• Maintain positive self-image and positive regard for students in word and deed;
• Create a disciplined, organized, safe, open, and joyous learning environment.

Interpersonal Relationships:
• Work cooperatively and effectively with the administration and staff; interact with students in a joyful, respectful, friendly, and just manner; create and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with parents;
• Keep parents informed regarding student progress;
• Establish and maintain regular communication with parents and guardians

Professional Responsibilities and Growth:
• Maintain professionalism in appearance, grooming, words, manners, and actions;
• Handle confidential situations, discipline, and/or sensitive information discreetly;
• Seek professional growth opportunities in consultation with the school’s administration;

• Maintain punctual and full attendance for all required professional days and events;
• Maintain diocesan VIRTUS/CYP certification (ongoing annually);
• Fulfill responsibilities as assigned in the spirit of the school’s Catholic, classical mission.
