Casey Scholars Program Director

Divine Mercy Academy is a Classical school located in Pasadena, MD that utilizes the Catholic Liberal Education model to create Saints and Scholars. Our purpose is to know, love, and serve God and to form others so they might joyfully do the same.

Divine Mercy Academy is hiring a full time program director of The Casey Scholars. This program serves students in grades 4–8 with documented learning needs. Rooted in a joyful Catholic vision and a classical educational model, the program provides individualized support through a combination of targeted instruction and in-class support.

1. Student Support & Instruction

  • Provide direct academic support to Casey Scholars through a blend of pull-out instruction and in-class coaching.
  • Deliver targeted interventions in executive functioning, reading fluency and comprehension, written expression, and foundational math skills.
  • Design and implement individualized support strategies aligned with each student’s SAP (Student Assistance Plan).

2. Program Leadership

  • Oversee the vision, development, and day-to-day operations of the Casey Scholars Program.
  • Lead the design and delivery of executive function instruction across grade levels.
  • Maintain structured routines and systems (e.g., binders, goal tracking, and student self-reflection).
  • Monitor student outcomes and adjust services to best meet student needs.

3. Lead the Student Support Team (SST)

  • Coordinate and facilitate all SST meetings and serve as the primary point of contact for referrals, evaluations, and follow-up.
  • Lead pre-referral observations across all grade levels
  • Coordinate with K-3 reading specialist and ensure consistent touchpoints for lower grammar students as they transition into 4th grade.
  • Guide tutors, specialists, and families in the development, review, and implementation of SAPs.
  • Ensure that all relevant tutors are included in planning and review processes, especially during back-to-school formation and progress monitoring periods.

4. Collaboration & Communication

  • Maintain close communication with classroom tutors to align student support with the academic program.
  • Meet regularly with tutors to share strategies, coordinate schedules, and ensure consistent support.
  • Communicate clearly with parents regarding student progress, strategies, and goals.
  • Coordinate with any outside specialists or private tutors to ensure a unified approach to student growth.

5. Planning & Administration

  • Track and monitor student goals, progress, and outcomes through regular assessments and documentation.
  • Gather tutor feedback, and synthesize findings for parents and the SST.
  • Manage the program schedule, maintain organized support materials, and contribute to broader academic planning efforts at the school.
  • Contribute to professional development opportunities directly related to student support.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience in education, student support, reading intervention, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of executive functioning, learning differences, and effective instructional strategies.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with classical education and the ability to integrate faith into instruction is strongly preferred.
  • Deep commitment to the mission of Catholic education and to the intellectual and spiritual formation of students.
