Job Description: Dean of Students and Formation (DSF)
Position Overview:
The Dean of Students and Formation (DSF) is a key leadership position that supports the Headmaster by managing day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth school functioning, and fostering a vibrant Catholic Classical school community. The DSF oversees operational systems, student behavior, and campus culture, allowing the Headmaster to focus on strategic leadership and institutional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
- Assist Headmaster in overseeing daily school operations, including schedules, facilities, and resource management.
- Coordinate with the Headmaster to ensure all operational goals align with the school’s mission and strategic plan.
Academics and Curriculum
- Ensure curriculum development in classical pedagogy.
- Assist Headmaster in building and implementing high school curriculum.
- Oversee students’ academic progress in conjunction with teachers.
Behavioral Policies and Student Formation
- Enforce behavioral policies rooted in Catholic values and Classical education principles.
- Oversee student discipline, fostering a restorative approach to behavioral issues.
Community Building
- Cultivate a strong, mission-driven campus culture by organizing spiritual, academic, and extracurricular programs.
- Collaborate with faculty to enhance student formation through retreats, service opportunities, and faith-based initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church, committed to the mission of Catholic education.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, theology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in school administration or teaching, preferably within a Catholic or Classical school setting.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while fostering a positive school culture.
