Overview: The Diocese of El Paso seeks a dynamic, faith-filled leader to serve as Superintendent of Catholic Schools. The Superintendent will provide leadership and support to nine Catholic schools, ensuring a strong, shared Catholic identity, academic excellence, and operational sustainability. The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative leader who fosters unity among schools, supports school leadership in navigating both challenges and opportunities, and implements meaningful professional development initiatives focused on impact for student learning. The role calls for a skilled communicator, an effective consensus-builder, and a dedicated, passionate advocate for Catholic education in our El Paso community.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Catholic leader to shape the future of Catholic education in the Diocese of El Paso, strengthening collaboration among schools, empowering educators, and enhancing the academic and faith formation of students across the region.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to all Catholic schools within the Diocese in faith formation, curriculum development, teacher development, school operations, enrollment management, and institutional advancement.
  • Collaborate with pastors, principals, and school leadership to establish shared goals and foster a cohesive network of Catholic schools through regular meetings, workshops, and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide direct support to principals, helping them address school-specific challenges while working towards broader diocesan objectives.
  • Work with school leadership to evaluate, develop, and implement updates for the Diocesan curriculum standards.
  • Organize professional development for principals, administrators, and faculty, emphasizing continuous growth and best pedagogical practices.
  • Work closely with the Bishop, pastors, Diocesan leadership, and school leadership to uphold and strengthen the Catholic identity of all schools.
  • Attend conferences, conventions, and regular meetings of the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops’ Education Department for Superintendents of Catholic schools.
  • Provide support to each school in assuring accreditation standards are maintained and in compliance with the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops Education Department, including but not limited to adherence to Safe Environment trainings.
  • Stay informed of current trends and new or changed laws relative to education and how those may impact Catholic schools in the Diocese of El Paso.
  • Serve as an ex-officio member of the Diocesan education advisory council and report on key trends, policies, and initiatives affecting Catholic education.
  • Work in conjunction with the Diocese regarding financial strategy, budgeting, and operational effectiveness.
  • Support schools in enrollment management, marketing, and financial planning.
  • Build marketing strategies to raise public awareness of the role and value of Catholic education as a ministry of the Church and as an important contributor to society and our community.
  • Advocate for Catholic education by promoting its value within the community, collaborating with local organizations, and fostering relationships with benefactors and grant providers.

Essential Qualifications

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing, deeply committed to the mission of Catholic education.
  • Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Administration, or a related field, with a minimum of 18 credit hours in administration and supervision.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Catholic school administration, preferably as a principal or superintendent.
  • Proven track record of leadership, strategic planning, and consensus-building in an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Catholic school governance, curriculum development, and accreditation standards.
  • Experience in enrollment management, development efforts, and financial planning for schools.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the challenges facing Catholic education today and the ability to develop innovative solutions for sustainability and growth.
  • Experience with fundraising.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading professional development programs for educators and administrators.
  • Familiarity with Texas Catholic education policies and TCCB ED accreditation standards.
  • A commitment to innovative instructional practices and a growth mindset as well as collaborative leadership style that brings others to the table.
  • Strong ability to inspire and engage school leaders, parents, and the wider Catholic community.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish Preferred
