The purpose of Chesterton Academy of St. Michael is to pursue Truth, Beauty and Goodness as revealed by God through the lens of the Catholic faith. Focusing on the classics, the school develops complete thinkers who learn to draw on faith and reason to build a Culture of Life.
Summary
Chesterton Academy of St. Michael is a private high school guided by the Truths of the Catholic Faith and loyal to the Magisterium. It is a family school under the patronage of St. Michael, whose goal is to provide an affordable classical curriculum steeped in tradition and augmented by the Socratic Method to cultivate its students both spiritually and academically. As a school, it will reinforce the role of parents as primary educators of their children and promote the importance of the family as the basic building block of a civilized society. Reason will be interwoven in every class and joy shall be present from the entrance hymn of the daily Mass to the closing bell of the school day for the greater glory of God.
To that end we seek to form our students: intellectually, by teaching them not only the great classics of Western thought from philosophy to physics, but the interrelationship of the great ideas, to learn not merely what to think but how to think; in character, especially in the four cardinal virtues of Prudence, Temperance, Fortitude and Justice which we believe are the foundations of leadership; and spiritually, to use the skills they acquire at Chesterton Academy in Faith, Hope, and Charity to build up the Kingdom of God in this life and be with Him in everlasting happiness in the next.
In the words of G.K. Chesterton, we seek to teach our students that “there is a whole truth of things and that in knowing and speaking it we are happy.”
Each teacher serves as a leader at CASM, responsible for upholding the policies that ensure all students are supervised in a safe, learning environment, that adhere to our Catholic identity and that meet the approved curricula and mission of the school. Our teachers are responsible for following the curriculum with fidelity, encouraging healthy student life, following discipline policies and partnering with parents.
