Nestled in the Tennessee hills, St. Michael Academy (SMA) is the Diocese of Nashville’s first regional elementary school serving students from Catholic Church of the Nativity, Holy Family Catholic Church, Mother Teresa Catholic Church, St. Luke Catholic Church, St. Philip Catholic Church, and greater Williamson County. SMA’s 102,000 square foot facility is a state-of-the art learning environment. Heated and cooled geothermally and designed with an abundance of natural light, the school is home to an Innovation Lab, Discovery Lab, two science rooms, library, a media center, two art rooms, choir, instrumental music, dance, collaborative work rooms, and a resource wing for differentiated learning. The spacious chapel and library open to a gorgeous patio with a double-sided fireplace overlooking a large pond. Several of the classrooms are equipped with glass garage doors to outdoor classrooms. It is the new standard in Catholic elementary education designed to lead students towards the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty. St. Michael Academy started in August 2024 with PreK3 through 5th grade and added 6th grade in 2025. 7th grade will be added in 2026 and 8th grade in 2027.

Opportunities and Challenges

The Head of School at St. Michael Academy will have the opportunity to administer a diocesan school prekindergarten to eighth grade program. The Head of School reports directly to the Superintendent with support from the Board of Limited Jurisdiction. • Leading a school in-line with the Diocese of Nashville and the Board’s commitment to academic excellence and robust Catholic education. • Leading the school in its important relationships with the Diocese of Nashville, the supporting parishes (Mother Teresa, Holy Family, Nativity, St. Luke, and St. Philip) and the community. • Fundraising and creating a culture of giving to the school, including the start of an endowment. • Serving as the face of St. Michael Academy and a dynamic leader to the children and families.

Qualifications and Personal Attributes The most competitive candidates will offer most or all the following qualifications and qualities: • A practicing Catholic with thorough and demonstrated knowledge of Catholic school education. • A visionary with energy and a commitment to creating a strong school community. • Familiarity and experience with diocesan-school relationships. • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with inspiration and clarity. • Strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. • Minimum of 5 years as Head of School experience. • Masters in Educational Leadership.
