The middle school language arts teacher is responsible for teaching language arts to the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Language arts includes writing, grammar, and literature. Bishop Baraga Catholic School is a diocesan school and follows the classical curriculum adopted by the Diocese of Marquette. The teacher is responsible for implementing and teaching this curriculum.
The language arts teacher is responsible for the academic success of his or her students through the planning and implementation of appropriate lessons and effective classroom management. They are responsible for communication of academic, social, and behavioral progress and concerns with parents and guardians and to keep the grade book up-to-date so that parents and guardians are aware of their child’s current standing. The teacher is also expected to participate in professional development provided by the school and to attend all staff meetings. The teacher will be provided a Faculty Handbook and the Diocese of Marquette Personnel Policy Manual and is expected to follow all policies and procedures outlined in the handbooks.
Required Qualifications
Following are the minimum educational and professional qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in elementary education
A provisional Michigan teaching certificate (or equivalent certification in another state)
