About Archbishop Riordan High School
Archbishop Riordan High School is an urban Catholic high school, owned by the Roman Catholic
Archdiocese of San Francisco and conducted by the Society of Mary, the Marianists, who are assisted by lay
men and women. ARHS prepares young men and women of San Francisco, the surrounding communities
and various countries from around the world for leadership through its inclusive college preparatory
curriculum. ARHS fosters development in faith, character, academics, the arts and athletics, in a diverse
and inclusive family environment.
Position: Social Science Teacher
Responsibilities
● Teaching Social Science at grade levels 9-12
● Preparing/implementing lesson plans that lead to student mastery of curriculum content
● Working with students and their families to promote personal growth and success
● Collaborating with department members and administrators in development, evaluation, and
continuous improvement
● Attending professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order
to maintain and improve professional competence, plus participate in co-curricular activities
● Maintaining regular, punctual attendance and a successful learning environment in the classroom
● Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
● Understanding and using educational technology
● Commitment to Riordan’s mission and Marianist values
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a social science related field
• At least one year of high school teaching experience preferred
• AP teaching experience preferred
• Teaching credential preferred
• Ability to effectively collaborate with faculty, students and staff
• Understanding of the mission and values of Archbishop Riordan High School and the Archdiocese of
San Francisco
Compensation
Based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial placement for salary will be based on postgraduate
units and years of experience. Range is from $71,715 to $112,657. Full-time; exempt.
