Job Description:

Aquinas Classical Academy is currently seeking a part-time or full-time director of advancement. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees and working closely with the Headmaster, the director will serve as an integral member of the ACA Leadership team. The director is responsible for establishing and implementing the school’s annual and long-range communication strategies in line with the school’s mission, values, and brand, delivering on them through internal and external communications. Building brand loyalty, creating a consistent voice, creating effective materials, managing external communications, and expanding awareness and community engagement are central to this position’s success. The director works in close partnership with the Board, the administration team, admissions, recruitment, and athletics, to develop strategy and oversee execution of marketing efforts to help tell the story of Aquinas Classical Academy, attract committed Catholic students and faculty, generate revenue from fundraising efforts through alumni and donors, and capitalize on marketing opportunities.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

·        Communication/Content Generation

o   Develop external communications plan for the school to tell the ACA story through acceptable media channels.

o   Manage ACA’s external print and electronic communications.

§  press releases and media pitches (including key talking points when appropriate

§  social media

§  email marketing

o   Manage (with some writing support) athletics communications to be sent to the press, included in social media, featured in magazine, etc. (this comes later).

§  individual game reports

§  weekly sports wraps

§  special features around important milestones

o   Manages relations with the local press.

o   Continually keep a finger on the pulse of what is happening on campus and create media content both video and print.

o   Monitor and manage all internal communications (academic, development, administrative) including internal programming (Benefit Brunch, Guardian Fund, Giving Tuesday, all internal productions).

o   Serve as editor-in-chief of the biannual ACA magazine (Annual Report).

o   Work with existing department members on the viewbook, course handbook, newsletter, etc.

o   Review and edit internal and external communications.

o   Stay current on programs, positioning, and marketing and communications strategies developed by similar organizations.

·        Media and Advertising

o   Develop and execute media plans including traditional, social, and digital media.

o   Work with the ACA Leadership team to develop an annual advertising campaign.

o   Manage marketing budget.

o   Continually improve the community image of ACA by analyzing the appropriate data/metrics insights and best practices and then acting on the information.

o   Continue to explore new media opportunities. Develop.

·        Photography/Video

o   Manage and oversee all photography and photographers, including websites, screens, print materials for the arts, athletics, and academics, to be able to effectively tell the ACA story.

§  maintain connection with the yearbook team to avoid duplication and missed opportunities

§  sort and archive all photos

§  take photos of campus events whenever possible

o   Update all digital frames around school on a regular basis.

o   Work to develop video stories which include students, teachers, alumni, and current parent community.

·        Website

o   Work with the technology team and the ACA Leadership Team to maintain the vision for ACA.

o   Design web pages as needed using content generated or needs identified by various departments; examine and analyze site traffic in tandem with external partners; regularly check website to see if there are any pages that are out of date, inaccurate or difficult to use.

o   Maintain accurate copy on outside websites.

 

Professional and Personal Skills

·        Can develop and execute a clearly defined marketing and communication strategy, initiatives, activities and related functions to enhance ACA’s brand equity, increase brand awareness, drive enrollment and revenue for ACA and support the school’s growth objectives.

·        Can build processes, establish cross functional relationships and work seamlessly with other groups in the organization such as admissions, recruitment, athletics, IT, and finance, sharing best practices and seeking to benefit from the input from other groups.

·        Can demonstrate marketing’s impact on business, validating the return on investment for every dollar to peer groups in the organization and become a strategic driver of the business.

·        Has exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interact with all diverse constituent bodies of the school as an ACA ambassador.

 

Education Experience

·        Bachelor’s degree with minimum two to five years’ marketing and communications experience, strong writing and editing skills, demonstrated experience preferably in the Independent School area.

·        experience in the design of web-based communications; able to work collaboratively with other departments; proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, all social media platforms and online content management systems such as Final Site or Whipple Hill, Adobe InDesign, and Photoshop A plus.

Salary Range (Washington)

0.5FTE: $24,000 to $34,000

1.0FTE:  $48,000 to $68,000
