JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Grades 3 & 4 Teacher’s Aid
Reports To: Principal of School & Pastor of All Souls Parish
Office/ Dept: Department of Catholic Schools
FLSA Status: Part time, Non Exempt (17.5 hours / week)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
● Classroom Assistance: Support the lead/homeroom teacher in managing the classroom, including preparing materials, organizing activities, and maintaining a clean and safe learning environment.
● Student Support: Provide individual and small group assistance to students, helping with assignments, reinforcing learning concepts, and addressing any disciplinary issues under the direction of the lead teacher.
● Behavior Management: Assist in monitoring and guiding student behavior, implementing classroom rules and procedures, and addressing any disciplinary issues under the direction of the lead teacher.
● Instructional Support: Help with the preparation and execution of lesson plans, including setting up and using educational tools and technology.
● Communication: Maintain effective communication with the lead teacher, parents, and school staff regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.
● Supervision: Supervise students during non-classroom times, such as lunch, recess, and field trips, ensuring their safety and well-being.
● Administrative Tasks: Perform clerical duties as needed, including copying, filing, and organizing instructional materials.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to communicate and work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and staff.
● Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and maintain a structured classroom environment.
● Patience and Adaptability: Patience and flexibility in dealing with young children and adapting to various classroom situations.
● Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to work in a diverse cultural setting, respecting and valuing different backgrounds and perspectives.
EXPERIENCE:
● Prior Experience: Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is preferred.
● Classroom Management: Familiarity with classroom management techniques and strategies.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
● Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
● Preferred Education: Coursework or degree in Childhood Development
● Certification: CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
● Mobility: Ability to stand, walk, and move around the classroom and school grounds for extended periods of time.
● Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
● Dexterity: Manual dexterity to assist with classroom activities and the use of educational tools and technology.
● Stamina: Physical stamina to engage actively with students throughout the school day.
RATE:
● Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications, with the potential for increased hours and full-time employment based on performance and school needs.
● Primary Grade or Grades to be determined at time of hire.
● $17.25 – $20.00 / hour
